Databases in Bioinformatics
John Maddox, editor of the review Nature, had clearly seen the need to push the effort of organising biological data in 1988: " Is there a danger, in molecular biology, that the accumulation of data will get so far ahead of its assimilation into a conceptual framework that the data will eventually prove an encumbrance?"
In this chapter, we will survey the current efforts in bioinformatics that attempt to answer John Maddox's concern.
