Neural Networks

The neural network branch of artificial intelligence has applications in a variety of fields including speech recognition, medical diagnosis, environmental control, signal processing and computer vision. Artificial neural networks have been found to be especially useful for classification and function approximation where data contains errors, omissions, or is noisy. They have also been successful where the relationships between input variables and the target function (accurately predicting function) are not well known. Artificial neural networks (hereafter abbreviated as "neural networks") have successfully driven a car, diagnosed medical conditions, recognized visual objects (faces, text characters) and classified protein structures.
